Fine Art: Artist Statement

We are the sum of those who came before us, and our lives echo in the generations that follow. My art is a personal journey, delving into the depths of generational trauma and self-discovery within my matriarchal line. This inspiration stems from the cherry blossom studies, where mice exhibited a stress response to the scent of cherry blossoms—a haunting reminder of the pain inherited from their mothers who experienced harm associated with that smell. As I reflect on my family's history and the pain and joy within it, each piece I create becomes a deliberate attempt to unveil the unnoticed pieces of our mothers within us. Through intentional choices and a variety of mediums, I offer a visual narrative that intimately intertwines with the stories of my foremothers.
